We’re so self-important. So arrogant. Everybody’s going to save something now. Save the trees, save the bees, save the whales, save the snails. And the supreme arrogance? Save the planet! Are these people kidding? Save the planet? We don’t even know how to take care of ourselves; we haven’t learned how to care for one another. We’re gonna save the fuckin’ planet? … And, by the way, there’s nothing wrong with the planet in the first place. The planet is fine. The people are fucked! Compared with the people, the planet is doin’ great. It’s been here over four billion years … The planet isn’t goin’ anywhere, folks. We are! We’re goin’ away. Pack your shit, we’re goin’ away. And we won’t leave much of a trace. Thank God for that. Nothing left. Maybe a little Styrofoam. The planet will be here, and we’ll be gone. Another failed mutation; another closed-end biological mistake.”

Sometimes, i just feel that our society is quite screwed up. I used to think that skinny girls look nicer. Believe me, nearly every girl in this world wanna get in the good looking club. I saw girls desperately posting up dieting tips on their tumblr blogs, sick quotes about not eating to be thin, and photos of pretty girls with distinct hip bones and bony torsos being reblogged.
This picture on my tumblr dashboard shows 6,862 notes from users all around the world.
Scrolling further down my dashboard, i see this picture with 1,344 notes. Putting my nutrition knowledge into use, im assuming that she's suffering from rickets, she's extremely malnourished and she needs a lot of calcium, her knees are bending inwards, it's an unhealthy sign. Studies shown that underweight people has a higher risk of getting cancers.
Then.. After scrolling a few pages down, I saw this. This girl did some self-mutilation cutting to herself.
Suddenly, I don't get this at all. how is being skin and bones pretty? It's beginning to tell me 'you gotta be skinny enough to fit in the pretty world.'.
Fashion portrays 'the pretty world' with models' legs that literally look like chopsticks.
It's like a competition; we are all rats, running for the rat race by becoming what people want us to be. It's depressing to see that people dont appreciate their body. Hmm, I'm learning to appreciate mine now.. yea, I know I look skinny, but it's not like I dont eat you know, I eat all three meals healthily and heartily everyday. I do have high basal metabolic rate sometimes.
I'm quite annoyed that one of my classmates keep telling me things like 'you so skinny, dont need to go jog lah.' or 'you so skinny, why go aikido.'.. :/
Why does humans judge each other?
Well said, marilyn monroe. I think that every girl needs this.

About
Joan L. Singaporean. With some mixed of Peranakan and Chinese, I would like to emphasize that in your first impression, you're not exactly the first one thinking that I look like an indo-chinese.
A First Toa Payoh Secondary School graduate currently in Nanyang Polytechnic pursuing diploma in Food Science and Nutrition.
However I didn't exactly like science and I have a strong interest in designing, photography and music. I'm an INTJ and at times an extrovert.
Other than English and Mandarin Chinese, French is my third language. You can tweet me here, and/ or FaceBook me there!
